that that will be the only Gene collection left coming out? After reading Mel's letter a few times that is what I understand. I am still thinking about the news, the end of the Gene line. I think there is currently no other doll that can replace her. Gene has that extra X-factor to me. The Tonner dolls don't have that, (allthough I do like there Celebrity dolls, like Joan and Bette).Neither does any other doll-line. Antoinette? No. The DAE Vivian line? That is the only other doll-line I really really love but getting more and more expensive and exclusive. Maybe the Silkstone-barbies, they have that vintage feeling to me. Gene is not only very pretty but also reasonable priced ( I think ). I will miss the Gene-line a lot. The excitement when a new doll is presented, the buzz here on the board... I stopped collecting vintage Barbie when I discovered Gene, sold them all and bought Gene's for the money I earned.

It is certainly the end of an era now...
