She isn't just an artistic exercise for Mel...she's a part of Mel's heart. She became a part of our hearts too.
If Mel's heart leads him elsewhere, I'd rather the Gene line end. I think we could tell if Mel was just going thru the paces with Gene--and I don't know if anyone else could ever capture the love that Mel has for this group of characters. I would never EVER want to see Gene handled with any less care than Mel gives her.
God..I might even go to this convention. I want to give Mel a big hug..
