WOW! What news!
Do not get me wrong, it is with great respect that I look at what must have been a huge decision to make. I can only imagine how difficult it is for Mel to deal with it now that the news is official. My heart goes to him.
My heart goes to all of us too. This has also been part of our lives for a long time. For some as collectors, for some as the start of a whole new business life, for most as a source of friendship. We will need to morn this news for a while and see where it takes us. We need to "go with the flow" for now. Not question anything, not make any decisions... just go with the flow.
I also think that "going out while on top" is the ONLY befitted exit for Gene. The doll world has changed so much in the last little while and many drastic decisions had to be made because of the economy, the "new kids on the block", the new trends, etc... to decide to take control of such an accomplishment and provide it with a "happy ending" in commandable.
On a more personal note I am heartbroken. There is no two ways about it. A lot of you know that Mel/Gene have changed my life. I would not be where I am / who I am today without having met Gene and her world. So to even contemplate a world without Gene is almost impossible for me at the moment. But by the same token, "she" will always be in my heart, and in all of yours too.
So in that respect, she will always be here.
Thank you Mel.
With all my love and gratitude.
