1986 Suzuki ignition problem

I have a 1986 suzuki LT 230 sport that will not spark. I have tried three different ignition coils with mixed results no matter which one I tried. The primary coil and pickup coil are both good, and I have a new spark plug and boot. Sometimes it will spark and some times it will not. What are the chance that the CDI unit is bad? If that isn't the problem, does any one else have any Ideas, I am at my witts end! Please Help!! Please reply or send me an email.
