Posted by Dave Wyatt I've purchased bikes from Vigo Kawasaki and Hunt BMW in Terre Haute, Hughes Honda in Brazil and Gutteridge Harley Davidson in Danville, IL. All of those with good results. The only one still open is Gutteridge. I have never been able to deal with Honda in Terre Haute. To me, it seems that they think their bikes are worth more than other dealers with the same brands and the sales folks make no apologies. It has always been a take it or leave it attitude at that dealer. Others have purchased bikes there, but I have not been able to without paying a premium for the honor. I have had similar treatment from the local Harley Dealer as well, but not nearly as bad. Gutteridge was a little nicer and a tad cheaper. Since I live half way between both Harley shops, I went north with my business. The next time I am ready to shop for a new bike, I will give the Terre Haute Harley dealer a shot as well as Gutteridge, but will definitely head out of town for all other brands. BMW out of necessity and the other brands due to Thompson's past track record. The wife and I are about ready to buy a new touring bike and will be checking out ALL brands before we buy. Not just what is available locally. I service my own bike for the most part and can haul one a little ways for warranty work. A local dealer does not have any advantage now. Dave Wyatt
