Dealerships-Attitudes Good or Bad

I live in the West-Central Indiana region, and I am thinking about looking at buying a first bike. I can do my research on the net, and from magazine articles. What I do not know is who I should buy my bike from, and I am not settled on a brand yet. I am looking for a good dealer to deal with, and that may make my decision on what brand. I have heard good and bad stories about the dealers in the Indy-Terre Haute-Bloomington area. Can anyone give me some insight about dealers, pro or con. I am not posting my e-mail address here, so please reply and I will check the board often.
