It's sunny today but only in the 40s. They're running more tests trying to pinpoint what my mom's infection is. She slept all day yesterday. Her appetite is poor and she lost too much weight so they put in a stomach tube. My sister and I are being taught how to feed her through the tube, although when she comes home she needs to supplement that with eating soft foods the regular way. But the tube feeding is designed to give her a baseline of 1500 calories a day.
Parking at this smaller hospital is complicated. Street parking is two hours only until 6pm on weekdays for non-residents who don't have permits. You can only park on limited streets near the hospital. More parking is available much further away with the same weekday restrictions. And it's downhill from the hospital. The parking garage is expensive. It's $15 a day if you're staying three hours or more. Payment is automated so it never 'shuts down'. Visiting hours aren't 24 hours a day. But over the huge university hospital parking is a flat rate $8 and they have attendants you pay. They go home at 11 pm, so you aren't charged a fee if you leave late or come late. Visiting hours there are 24 hours a day. Because parking at this smaller hospital is pricey and there are the street parking limitations this affects when and how long we can visit my mom. I got stuck paying the $15 the other day and I spent most of the time alone watching TV in my mom's room while she had the minor surgery and they ran a test.
I have to get things ready for my other sister who will be driving up later in the week. The car's oil needs to be changed and there are couple of errands that need to be done. I'm burning the candle at both ends and am exhausted.
