It's been a long two days. Still waiting for the clothes that get hung to dry on garment racks to finish drying completely because of the dampness from Friday's rain. First thing Friday morning the furnace repair tech came. It turns out the furnace is fine but it won't stay on because some bird or squirrel built a nest in the chimney and the twigs and branches could be seen when he popped off the vent pipe. Some wind storm must have pulled off the chimney cap and we didn't realize since the chimney is only noticable if you're out in the backyard intentionally looking up at that part of the roof since this is a old two story house with an attic. So now I have to hire a chimney sweep to clean out the nest and put on a new cap this coming week. We had this same problem about twenty years ago. I didn't go to the hospital until dinner time to avoid the deluge. Fortunately it didn't flood around here although some nearby towns did flood in spots. But nothing like NYC and up into Westchester county. Today it got up into the mid 60s but stayed cloudy. I had to sweep wet leaves and a few twigs from the front porch steps, the walkway and front sidewalk. My mom is still tiring easily and isn't her usual chatty self, but is spending more time awake watching TV over at the hospital. I still haven't heard from the hospital social worker yet about setting up home based PT/OT and likely also a visiting nurse for my mom when she's doing better and gets back home. I had dinner tonight right before the 11 pm news and stayed up late taking care of more housework.
