We are located in VA and searching for a well trained and well mannered horse for our daughter. She is a 4h'er and we tragically had to put down her mare in Sept. 2007. We were heartbroken over losing her and it is still hard to go to the barn and not see her there. We spent thousands trying to save her. We need a horse between 3-16 years of age, 14.2-15.3 hands, mare or gelding, SOUND, HEALTHY and a WILLING ATTITUDE. We have been searching rescues but most are companion horses or won't adopt outside their area. We are an experienced home and have been doing rescue work for over 15 years (canine & equine) and I serve as a board member of one group here. We have one retired mare and one young horse who has not entered training yet. She won't be ready for my daughter until at least next year's season. We only do local shows and some trail riding. I am PRAYING someone out there has a well loved and cared for horse that is ready for a new best friend and forever friend. Maybe one that needs a kid as much as a kid needs her/him. We are willing to travel within VA,NC,MD,WV,EAST TN and possibly a little further for the right horse. We have a very pretty farm that is right across the road from the equine vet, a 20x30 barn with oak stalls, nice pastures and excellent references.
We also would like to add one gaited horse to the family for occasional trail rides around the farm.
