Is Memphis still in need of a good home? Once in the breeding and showing of Arabians, now retired with 40 acres and only 2 arabians at the present. My daughter is interested in riding again and I am looking for an arabian gelding for her. We once owned and showed a fantastic gelding named Rani Memphis...would like to see a picture and pedigree if one is available.
Thank you,

: Hello everyone! I am a student at Berry
: College. Last year a student boarder at
: Berry College, with little horse experience,
: no longer could keep the Arabian gelding she
: purchased from an auction (due to a move to
: another school and financial reasons). The
: Berry barn managers offered to help find him
: a new home. With my sister and I being the
: only Arabian people boarding on the Berry
: campus, the barn manager asked if we knew
: anyone who would want him. I offered to help
: spread the word around and take pictures of
: him.
:
: Memphis is a bay, Arabian gelding. He's
: about 14.3hh with adorable face, cute ears,
: big eyes, and good feet. I am guessing he is
: Polish/Crabbet bloodlines. I not quiet sure,
: but he might have papers. I will ask again.
: I think he's about 4-6 years old (again I
: will re-check the facts). He is a little shy
: and timid but willing to learn. He always
: has a happy expression on, with ears up. He
: definitely has a sweet personality, esp.
: once he gets to know you. He is very low
: maintenance and has wonderful weight on,
: just needs some muscling. He currently lives
: in a pretty big group of geldings and
: doesn't have trouble at all. He halters,
: leads, stalls, straight ties, saddles,
: bridles, & picks up feet. Over all, he
: is a very, very good boy for the amount of
: handling he's had here at the college and
: with his unknown past. He is currently
: ridden in a western saddle and a full check
: snaffle.
: He is up to date on most everything and had
: his feet done in the past couple weeks.
: When I saw him go, he had a nice trot, with
: a nice stride.
:
: A Berry student (who rides dressage and owns
: a Thoroughbred) has been working with him
: for the past month and a half, lunging and
: riding him. Kevin Ellis, the barn manager
: (an experienced horse trainer and who
: graduated from the University of Georgia in
: 1996 with a bachelor of science in
: agriculture and a minor in agricultural
: business), has also ridden him.
:
: Memphis is offered at $800 to help cover his
: feed, vet, and board bill. An experienced
: home is a must. With about 30-60 days of
: good training, patience, and loving, he will
: make a wonderful trail horse, 4H horse, or
: maybe possibly a lower level dressage horse
: or sport horse/hunter. Memphis is located in
: Rome, Georgia.
:
: For more information or if you think you can
: give Memphis a new home, please contact
: Kevin Ellis 706-255-5389. The best time to
: call (to have him pick up :-) ) is probably
: before 7 pm and not Friday or Saturday
: nights (Kevin attends rodeos most weekends).
: Please only serious potential owners
: respond.
:
: I have not taken pictures of Memphis yet,
: but I will do so ASAP. If you are interested
: in seeing pictures of Memphis when I get
: them and/or would like updates on him,
: please email me. Please, pass this on to
: those who might be interested or might know
: someone who is.
