: It's a bloody shame when a judge can't find
: anything else to bounce a dog but a low
: tail! I've never thought that was all that
: bad, especially when earlier finds were of a
: more stylish variety. She pointed the birds
: and was steady to flush and shot. Enough
I guess that if I had a dog with multiple finds that pointed with a high tail. I would place it over a dog that pointed with a low tail on all it's finds, assuming everything else was more or less equal. I would disregard one find with a low tail among several with a high tail. A dog may slightly injure itself while running and then point it's next bird with a level tail. Juanita Golden once said to me, "I guess I was wrong, I thought bird dogs found birds with their nose but apparently they find them with their tails." The occasion? Judges failed to place one of Vince's dogs that had a big forward race and multiple finds, The dog ran with a decent tail but pointed level. Ouch! It was at the old Buckeye Club and I had picked the judges.
