: Sammy Nells Ramblin On while it's still
: around and not completely lost.
:I was fortunate to obtain Foxfire's Rhea early in my career. She won 6 or 7 championships under George Tracy's whistle. Unfortunately, she was not a producer so I have completely lost her blood. I loved Nell's Ramblin On. Smart was a d^mn good dog but it was NRO and her sire that put the run in Guard Rail imho. And Guard Rail is still the dog that I would have most liked to own! I first saw him at Keystone when "He came back from town in the backseat of a car." The judges missed that and they placed him RU iirc. Years later I asked one of the judges (who was a friend of mine) if he had heard about that. He told me that he heard about it before the next brace had ended. But like any good judge, he only judged what he saw!
PS Once when judging a championship, I was told a dog refused to back. His handler thought we didn't use his dog because of that but I told him that while it was probably impossible for him to believe, the two dogs we used just flat out BEAT his dog. If he reads this, he probably still thinks that I am stretching the truth as the "tattletale" was my good friend Mark Flanagan. And if pressed, I would say that Mark probably was telling the truth but since neither of us judges had seen it, we totally disregarded Mark's statement. (Talk about having it both ways!
