Paul
You never got over to talk setters.I had a commander setter that was a big setter of at least 56 lbs drippen wet. He had a solid black head and white body.He was proportioned well with near perfect conformation. My female was out of Sam L Rebel.Lost all the pups as a guy from OK came by with some Home Again Boy pups and gave the litter distemper. He was the only pup to live and he was slitely crippled in his left front leg.Didnt train fast but by four he was a really good dog. Bill Hunt said he was the best in the nation at that time.Long story sold to Steven Harwood Sundown Kennel and he died way to soon of what a vet said should never have happened. What a loss.I have a picture of him pointing and he always slobbered alot which run to the ground when on a covey. He could run alot great great nose heavy bone and long legs.Stood about 26 27 inches tall.Come over before you head north as I dont work on week ends.

: Here we go again! Not sure what folks call
: big, or leggy, but after several
: conversations, it appears that "size
: matters" to some. The fastest dog in
: my kennel is a setter dog that weighs about
: 39 pounds in good shape. He is not squatty,
: but is a slim built dog. I don't think
: anybody would call him big,l but they would
: not call him little either. I have much
: bigger dogs that are also fast and will run
: a lick, but Bull is the fastest. Sweetie
: Pie (1 win) weighs maybe 34 pounds. She is
: fast, wide, stylish, and has plenty of guts
: to go with it, is a bird finder and a
: natural bird dog. I read (years ago in The
: Modern Setter), about a setter named WunLung
: which weighed 19 pounds and won field
: trials. The deepest bottom in my kennel
: belongs to a little b###h that won't weight
: 30 pounds - but she will run a long way and
: has no quit. Of course, size can be a
: significant factor in heavy cover, such as
: sweet clover CRP. Style is one of the
: easiest factors to asses in a 30 minute
: heat, but in many instances, the other
: attributes will also make themselves evident
: to a watchful person. I gotta go finish
: moving my kennel.
