Looks like fun and a great venue to run a dog. When abouts is the trial going to be run in Dec. 2012? ......Dave --Previous Message-- : I thought I'd repost the photographs from last : December's inaugural Gyp Hills Field Trial : club event near Medicine Lodge, KS. The : venue is the 40,000 acre Z-Bar Ranch which : is maintained as a grazing operation for : buffalo and managed for all kind of wildlife : from prairie dogs to bobwhite quail. : : We are considering and will advertise this : trial for a Thursday start if there is : enough interest for four days this year. : Last year we filled up three full days with : one hour open all age, one hour open : shooting dog and two 30 min Derby stakes. : : This is all wild birds and last year the : bird numbers were down due to historic : drought. This year normal rainfall has : visited the ranch and we are hoping the heat : and current dryness is broken regularly this : summer with more rains. : : Last year even with the worst of conditions, : we still identified 13 separate coveys on : the three hours used. Birds numbers look : much better right now.
