Remember that Gerald won his first championship at Bernville. They ran the National Pheasant Championship out there and he won it. We all thought that those birds were here forever. Then about 1983 they were all gone! The farmer down the road stopped to ask me if I had seen any pheasants on his farm and I told him no. They were just gone from the East Coast. I was told by an officail in the Ag Dept that New Castle got em all that year.

There was : also a wild bird trial on the prison farm up : near Selinsgrove. Clair Gross's trials : would always product a lot of wild pheasants : as well as out at the Franklin County : grounds too. : : The young guys in PA will never see the joy : and pain of running on wild birds again. : : :
