Posted by Sam Ford on 11/6/2004, 11:26 am My name is Sam Ford. I just wanted to tell everyone about a new website we launched this week. It is an online horse auction. ( www.stampedeauction.com ) After only four days up we already have over 150 horses listed for auction. We are so excited and appreciative for the overwhelming response. It operates exactly like eBay, but it is exclusively for horses. But, as you probably know, eBay doesn't allow live animals to be listed on their site. That's really unfortunate because online auctions have become America's favorite way to buy and sell almost anything. The way we see it, it's about time that horse lovers were given a chance to participate in the online auction format, too. We are very committed to driving lots of web-traffic through our site. We are going to advertise it in several national and regional horse magazines, as well as through broad media campaigns. Here's our problem - before we can start promoting it, we've got to have something to promote. We realize that since we're a new and untested service, that we're not exactly going to have people standing in line to use our service. We also realize that unless we can begin to get some horses up on our site, we are never going to get our new website off the ground. In other words: " you can't get sellers if you ain't go no buyers, and you can't get buyers if you ain't go no sellers." Here's our solution - WE'RE LETTING EVERYONE LIST FREE FOR THE NEXT 10 DAYS. (November 4 - 14) List as many horses as you want to and it won't cost you a dime. In fact, we need you. We want there to be lots of horses up for auction on our website when we have our grand opening on November 15. If you begin your auction before November 14, you won't be ask for any credit card or payment information, and the "amount due" noted on your bill will be $0. HERE'S A TIP: if you list your horse on our website in the next few days, be sure to select the "14 day auction" option. Here's why - You'll want your auction to still be running when November 15 rolls around because we have LOTS of newspaper and tv features about our unique service that begin to air/publish on the 15th. Don't be surprised if your listing doesn't get much visibility prior to the 15th. But beginning on the 15th we expect tens of thousands of visitors, which will translate into lots of people seeing (and hopefully, bidding on) your horse. Naturally, you'll be able to set a reserve price for each horse. That means that if the bidding doesn't reach the dollar amount that you're willing to take for your horse, you don't have to sell your horse to the highest bidder. There is never an additional charge for putting pictures of your horse up on our website. In fact you can put up to four pictures in your auction listing for free. Come give us a try. Heck, it's free for the next ten days so you've got nothing to lose. Thanks P.S. If you would mention our new website to all of your friends with horses, we would sure appreciate it. We're going to be working real hard to talk to a lot of "horse-people" by November 15, but I know we'll miss a few. Help us spread the word. If we can get this thing off the ground, I think it will be a great tool for horsemen (... and horse-women) If you have any questions or comments, or just want to talk horses, give us a call anytime.
