Posted by Marty N. Published Monday One man killed in plane crash Charles E. Schuler, 75, of Taylor was identified as the victim of the Saturday morning crash, said Garfield County Attorney Dale Crandall. There were eyewitnesses that saw the Rotec Rally 2B plane lose altitude rapidly and dive into the ground, he said. Crandall saw the plane flying about 10 minutes before the crash, but did not see the plane go down. The Federal Aviation Administration was notified but does not investigate ultralight plane crashes. "We really don't know and probably never will because there won't be an aeronautical investigation," Crandall said of the cause of the crash. "It seemed to have a control problem, nosed over and headed straight to the ground." Schuler, who operated a sand and gravel business, had owned the plane for about 12 years, said his son, Gene Schuler, of Gillette, Wyo. Services were scheduled for Wednesday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. Link: Article from omaha. com
