Beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16th, the public is invited to Harvard State Airfield to help the Husker Ultralight Club celebrate its tenth anniversary in south-central Nebraska. The club, which held its first official meeting at Harvard, currently has 48 members, many of whom fly powered parachutes (parachutes with buggies hanging under them in which the pilots and perhaps passengers ride), trikes (a type of delta wing weight-shift controlled aircraft/ vehicle), fixed wing ultralights (“little airplanes”) and sport planes. If the weather cooperates, several of these aircraft and vehicles will be on display or flying. Owners of land yachts or landsailers have also been invited to this event to demonstrate their skills at sailing on the airport apron.
Best time for flying light aircraft and ultralights is usually in the early morning and evening, when winds are generally calmer. Landsailers, on the other hand, function best in higher winds, such as those typically found in the afternoon.
More information about the club can be found at HTTP://WWW.ANGELFIRE.COM/ULTRA/HUC/
As this event is being held on property owned by the State of Nebraska, neither the State nor Husker Ultralight Club is responsible for accidents.
