Thank you, thank you, thank you for the information on David James Hanson. I will be eternally grateful to you for adding such detail to this man's war career. Mr Hanson is one of the last old boys I had to find out about and I would never have found it any other way, I'm sure.
This Friday the school is holding one of the largest Remembrance Day ceremonies it's ever had. The full name of every old boy who died in both wars will be read out and my blood will run cold when I stand in the throng to hear their names. I've been researching them for years now and I'm acutely aware of the sufffering they went through - and for what, I ask myself? Was it really worth paying with your life?
