Russ,
Thanks for your message.I have found the following information on B.Barker.He was a Leading Telegraphist Air Gunner R.N. on 58 (TAG) Course. He was killed in an accident involving a 786 Squadron Barracuda BV959.This squadron was one of the resident training squadrons based at Crail for the entire duration of World War II.The Barracuda was diving at 3,000 feet when the starboard wing disintegrated! It spun into the water and burst into flames on impact at Kingsbarns bombing range, situated between Crail and St.Andrews. Also killed were S/L RE Stokes, and S/L Gambrill, RNZN. Interestingly this Barracuda had been repaired a few months earlier at Donibristle. Regarding my book on Crail Airfield I had hoped it would have been out by now.I will contact the publisher to see what the situation is.If you require any further information please get back to me.
Best wishes Malcolm Fife.
