Dear Bruce,
With reference to your enquiry,I have the following information on Sub.Lt.(A)R.N.V.R, A.Moores-He was killed while flying Sea Hurricane JS233 .The aircraft crashed half a mile east of Cruden Railway Station, situated about halfway between Aberdeen and Peterhead. It is believed the Hurricane crashed due to engine failure. A.Moores baled out but was too low for his parachute to deploy properly. I hope to have my small book on Crail Airfield available shortly. Around one hundred and twenty persons lost there lives while serving at this airfield during World War II ,almost all in flying accidents.
Best wishes Malcolm Fife.
P.S.I am currently researching into the history of Drem Airfield ,East Lothian-H.M.S.Nighthawk and would be interested to hear from any one who served there or may have information on it.
