WELCOME to the H.M.S. VENGEANCE Message Board
Posted by HMS. VENGEANCE on 28/2/2003, 23:09:00, in reply to "Hospitals - Malta." I spoke to my collaborators and have an answer from my Maltese-Canadian friend (now in his 80's) Joe M Cali' Warrington who was
Board Administrator
Via e-mail from Em Spiteri;
himself RAF during the war years. See Joe's story at:
"http://www.mymalta.com//interesting/warrington1.html"
Now as regards his answer to your question, Joe wrote to me as follows:
"There was a general hospital at St Andrews during the war - Brits, Maltese and German and Italian POWs were treated I think it was 27 Gen Hospital but not sure. The hospital King George V in Floriana was open to anybody who could afford their fees = during the war it was used as a first aid station and clearing casualty outlet - It was near missed but not hit.
