I see that the term “clique” has been used to describe the squadrons serving on board
During WWII.. An unwise choice of word in my opinion. My father volunteered for duty on board the Vengeance – he wasn’t called up- a man so young of age and having to live with the fears that service brought into the lives of theses young men, camaraderie would have prevailed. Of course there is a bond between the squadrons. My father contracted Malaria - some of his colleagues died of Malaria. He wasn't keen on going to Japan(so my mother has told me) but it was his duty which he duly carried out. Clique? hardly, just a well deserved camaraderie considering the fear and conditions overseas.
The website covers all periods of the Vengeance and when I was at the 2005 reunion, members other than WW2 vets were there. I was happy to supply this site with photos, diaries and Xmas paraphernalia.
This "ship" needs to get itself in order as it just leaves a bad taste.
In the next decade there will be very few left from WW2 service – lets get all this cleared up?
I have not renewed my membership as a consequence of this poor display by the committee – who by the way could easily have had an extra ordinary General meeting to resolve this.
There are two sides to this, and both sides should air their views face to face?
