Thanks again for your comments on the 'Message Board'.
Just to clarify, HMS. Vengeance was in Sydney, Australia on 6th August 1945 when the Atom Bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
She arrived in Sydney on 24th July 1945 and departed on 15th August (VJ Day) to Manus.
HMS. Vengeance did not go anywhere near Japan until 26th April 1946 when she arrived in Iwakuni, Japan, 9 months after the Atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
The crew were allowed ashore to visit Hiroshima and see for themselves the devastation that it caused.
I hope this information re-assures you on your late father's itinery whilst attached to HMS. Vengeance.
