My Grandad,William Mathew Andrews enlisted in the Kings Own Liverpool Regiment as a drummer boy in 1900.He was brought up at Padgate Cottage Homes because he was an orphan.The main objective at the home was for the children to go into the forces and brass and percussion were taught there.I remember Grandad Andrews tickling me to death when I was a child .He died in 1952 when I was 6yrs old but I remember him.
