Public Sector unions have reached the point where they have bankrupted entire cities, and without drastic changes at least three states--Illinois,(thats us) New Jersey and California--are facing fiscal insolvency. And since states can't legally go bankrupt, they will be begging for federal bailouts. That's the future, and not even the staunchest public union supporter can deny it, but of course they will try. Both FDR and Calvin Coolidge were opposed to public sector unions, correctly noting that the government - and thus government employees - work for their public at a function for which there is no alternative, and thus any attempt to strike would be against the public they are supposed to serve unconditionally. When two such diametrically opposite politicians agree on this point, we should all be able to agree public sector unions need to be outlawed. Their naked rent seeking and intervention in the political process only compounds the problem. Even a rat like FDR could see this.
