Illinois' financial decay spreads to cities across the stateArchived Message

Illinois’ finances aren’t just decaying at the top, they’re falling apart everywhere. The state’s one-size-fits-all pension laws and overly generous benefits have left many cities suffocating under impossible pension debts as their populations shrink, tax burdens jump and resident incomes stagnate.
No big deal though because as any Democrat knows simply increase taxes as they always seemingly do. Now as the chart below shows each household in Granite City is on the hook for an additional $6,626.00 just to fund the pension systems of the police and fire departments. This figure is misleading though because when one considers the total divided by households it ignores that many of the households are members of the free stuff army making the numbers in reality much higher for the worker families. Tax hikes are on the way locally and lets not forget Chicago is bleeding and asking for more State assistance to help foot its bills. Illinois...a Democrat Party Utopia...for the political class that is.
