You have a point and in my mind a very valid point.
I am certainly no fan of the incentives handed out to well heeled investors like the warehouse owners. Not only do they get tax breaks they also make demands for police and fire protection, roads and other demands in infrastructure services that we, as taxpayers, have to pay more for because they, the warehouses, don't.
Now let us not forget that our former County Board Chairman Mr. Dunstan bragged about these places that, according to him, brought all these jobs to our community.
Consider some of the reasons why jobs have left our area. Our taxes are soaring. One reason is the demands of the Free Stuff Army that are provided with a plateful of benefits including not only just food stamps but WIC coupons, and meals for the children at the schools. ( how much food can one eat?) Our Courthouse is so plaintiff friendly people come from across the country to have their cases heard here. This has caused us to have one of the very highest workman's compensation rates in the nation and similarly vehicle and liability insurance rates as well. As a general statement these are situations created by the Democrats who are only too happy to hand out freebies via assorted vote buying programs and a very large percentage of Democrat trial lawyers who reap rewards from our local court system. These problems, taxes and insurance, have helped eradicate what once was an industrial powerhouse in favor of an area of chronic unemployment with the problems that come with it.
Our new Governor, another fine Democrat, now proposes to make Illinois a "sanctuary state" for people who illegally enter this country and then become another burden on the tax absorbing welfare system.
I personally have a strong feeling that if welfare were cut back many of the individuals whom collect benefits would instead go get many of the jobs that migrants come here to get.
I might add that when counting giveaway programs we can include the pension mess too but that is another issue for another discussion. In closing I just want to say if one gets food stamps why do they need WIC coupons as well? Why do they need meals provided at schools? WHy are food pantries needed? All of this welfare around us including the warehouses was not caused by Trump. Alan Dunstan bragged on those warehouses and Dunstan is a Democrat, not a Trump supporting Republican. Madison County as well as the State of Illinois is a haven for Democrats with vote buying programs for the so called needy that in many cases are just plain lazy. We can not blame all of them for being lazy though because many, through various Governmental initiatives, have made them dependent on the Government to live.

(note: just because someone doesn't vote Democrat does not make them a Republican. It often means they are just voting against the Democrat party and their giveaway programs)
