Thanks Opie2, I have to admit, it really bothers me when people who work for the city want to move away from the city. I don't want to get on my soapbox again, but it's offensive.
Also, I include GCSD9 teachers/staff members in this too. I know they aren't city employees, so the City Council can't tell them where to live, but the School Board can try and negotiate that into future contracts.
They earn their income in Granite City, and then spend it elsewhere. Why should Pontoon Beach, Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, or Collinsville reap the benefits of their property tax income? Why shouldn't Granite City businesses and restaurants (the ones who haven't left yet under our current directionless leadership) get the income from these people are are making tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in Granite City?
