I have a very close friend that frequently complains about government - mostly at the state and federal level. This friend is in his mid fifties, but has NEVER voted in any election. When he starts belly-aching, I usually respond with something to the effect that since he doesn't vote, he has no standing to complain. His usual response is that all politicians are crooked, so why bother?
I don't buy that argument one bit, but with the 'quality' of many of the candidates these days, particularly at the state and federal level, it's hard to tell him he's totally wrong...
