    Rumor mill:

Tens of thousands owed in back taxes to the State of Illinois.

Months of back rent owed to the landlord.

History of ripping off ideas for products / services from other local small business owners who are not given the luxury of "city hall support" and left to their own downfall or success.

    Economic Developer James Amos's friend.

Being helped financially by some supposed downtown committee, willing to correct the tax situation with a promise of repayment.

Fund raisers being organized. By who?

My question is: If the only way she could stay in business was by NOT paying the appropriate taxes, and by NOT paying her rent, what in her business plan is going to change?

The government has no sympathy when you have taken money from customers that include taxes, and to keep those taxes for yourself. Actually, I think the government considers that a crime. Kool Beanz is no exception and probably is the reason the place was shuttered by a government agency.
