I doubt contacts will help. Illinois has worked itself into a no win position. Huge debt, unpaid vendors, terrible highways and people exiting the state lead to one of two things (or both)

You can bet they will raise taxes and create new ones as well to generate more revenue. On top of that they will have to cut costs in many areas.

Rauner is getting the blame but Blagoevich is the main reason this state is in the shitter. When you contact them to influence their vote on new taxes, offer suggestions on what they should cut from the budget.

Education? Well, they already cut it and aren't paying the bills on what they owe.

Senior programs? Well, they owe vendors for meals on wheels and other outreach programs millions. How do you pay down the debt without increasing revenue or cutting more cost? You don't.

Our highways are an embarrassment. Do they layoff IDOT workers and let the roads get worse? How about all the unemployment they (we) pay when they layoff state workers?

Until we get a new infusion of industrial businesses, debt will rise and we'll pay for it. If we don't, our beloved Springfield leaders won't get paid.
