NIMC, Part of the issue, and it's the same with President Trump, is labeling. (Dems guilty too)
When this act of defense is geared towards, "nations that harbor terrorist", I'll support the act because I feel we're at a dangerous point in time and we need to be careful.
When it breaks down to "ban on muslims" which I know this wasn't but Trump has used the words, it lends itself to sympathy for that group of people.
I know there are hungry kids from war torn areas of those countries. However, I believe we must protect ourselves from danger before we can help others. If only a few of the refugees that come from those countries are intent on killing Americans, I don't think we should take the risk.
That's not fear. It's common sense like when you tell a child not to touch a hot stove.
I hope and pray that some day we can remove terror groups from the face of the earth. It's hard from a military standpoint because there is no army per say, there are individual radicals who are programmed to kill Americans. We thought we would overcome them when Bin Laden was killed but they grow another head and are more intent.
President Trump, if he has any hope at all of unifying people, has to tone it down a little. Regroup, break this existing order into a more deliberate and easy to enforce order and enact it properly. You can't fly off the handle as the leader of the country. It sounds good when I'm with my buddies drinking but it doesn't sell on a daily basis.
I'm as old school as they get. I want to see Americans protected and if it means people in other countries can't come here for a while, I can live with it. The next terror attack, especially after today's ruling, will set off protest from the right which in my opinion will be violent. If one American is killed by someone who slips through this relaxation of Trump's order, I wouldn't want to be a judge in Washington.
Dee argues his points in a manner that doesn't merit name calling. Debate him but he will get props from most people on here because he is well versed. (and that's coming from someone who argues with him numerous times)
