Thank you Opie2 for bringing up the alderman situation, code enforcement, and police presence.
I agree with code enforcement. The city doesn't have any trouble sending out someone to reassess my taxes when I plant flowers and put some rock down, but right across the street a car was dropped off by a tow truck, and hasn't been moved since last summer. The driveway at the property has a few rocks and has grass growing amidst the mud. There is a car sitting with expired tags on the opposite side of the street at a relatives house. They must have a friend at city hall.
About police presence: I had some damage to my property and the policeman complained that it was a lot of work to write up a report for my insurance. I guess they need a bigger salary and they will do more work.
I went down to city hall to pay a sewer bill and asked about the date of an upcoming parade in 2016. The lady proceeded to tell me that they were going to have to order more costumes because the city employees take them home and don't return them!
Another day I went to the zoning department and there were young girls employed there just spinning around and around on there chairs the entire time I was at the counter. This is where some of our money is going folks!
I have more, but I don't feel like ranting anymore today.
