If this petition went to the Supervisor of Nameoki Township, according to the agendas and meeting minutes, it was never brought before the Board at a public meeting.
I was informed that Mrs. Hawkins and several concerned citizens met informally with Madison County Sheriff, John Lakin, and discussed this matter over coffee - I have learned that Mrs. Hawkins and those ladies (one being Shipley's opposition I believe) did much to bring about more police presence in that area. I believe in community watch groups.
