Does something prohibit you from signing? Does your wife have your power of attorney? Typically in financial matters your wife could sign "for" you if noted on the document and initialed by her. Does that help at all?
I know when my elder cousin became disabled, his wife was able to sign all their joint documents by signing his name and then putting her initials or by signing the document XXX For YYY.
