I am no defender of Wal Mart and avoid it as much as I am able to.
But I can't 'blame' Wal Mart.
Yes, I have reasons not to like them and not to shop there - and that all remains true ---
But look at Target --- they are competing....they found a niche, perhaps a little more upscale....
It bothers me that Target is now Liberal and Wal MArt is more for non-liberals....though I think the prices of Wal-Mart still attract everyone...
But even that is a niche.....
K-Mart has appeared to be lost for many years. they have not tried to update, they have not tried to target a consumer base..... KMart and Sears have been lost with nothing to offer for a very long time.
It's like management has used this attrition model....with no real direction and no hope of recovery.
It would make a great case study someday in business school.
