    Some information linked today in the BND regarding school statistics. I knew our economy and demographics have changed but this is getting scary.

    Low Income Students:
    Granite 62%
    Collinsville 59%
    Edwardsville 18%

    Special Ed
    Granite 22%
    Collinsville 16%
    Edwardsville 10%


    Attendance Rate
    Granite 91%
    Collinsville 95%
    Edwardsville 95%

    Truant
    Granite 14%
    Collinsville 4%
    Edwardsville 1%

    Homeless
    Granite 3%
    Collinsville 3%
    Edwardsville 1%

    Student/Teacher
    Granite 24:1
    Collinsville 19:1
    Edwardsville 20:1

    Student/Administrator

    Attendance and truancy rates are alarming to me. Do parents not get their children to school these days? I see kids out and about all the time during school days. I see them at the store with a parent or walking the street. Where are priorities with parents these days.

    Couple that with a poverty rate that knocked me out of my chair, a very high percentage of special education students and higher student/staff ratio.

    Some of this info is disturbing.
