Spruce I voted for the referendum. I feel my taxes are part of what keeps the community alive. However, I understand the concerns of this young father who has stated his case in a very mannerly way. I would think the board will be discussing this issue for a time to come. I would also expect them to evaluate the amount of money saved by closing the schools. They had to have saved some money but will the extra busses eat up that savings? Fewer buildings mean fewer janitors and cooks. I understand the Worthen principal was just transferred to Prather and the Prather principal to the High School so there were no administrative savings. The good thing is Worthen appears to be ready to reopen if needed. I will say that closing Worthen helps traffic on Maryville Road. Let's give this thing time. It's only the third day of school and I'm sure some of these things are already smoothing out. I applaud Greenwald for his Channel 4 interview. He made no excuses and took the blame for any problems. That's good management.
