I agree with you Elroy. We are indeed our worst enemy when we trash our own community. That being said, and especially in light of our most recently failed economic developer, I don't believe a town of our size needs such a position. In this day and age of technology, companies wanting to investigate a town can do so through a well developed and maintained web site Our mayor is more than capable of sitting down with investors and talking about projects. The city attorney is very well versed in TIF development and law and can find answers when needed. One of the problems we have is a city council with an average age of well over 60. Several of these guys barely stay awake during a meeting let alone understanding development and finance. It's time for some new blood (hint hint Elkooksta) There's only so much territory to be developed in Granite City. The city's comprehensive plan should already outline the development areas. The rest is selling the product to potential investors. As for the new guy and his attempt to put down this site. Don't get your dander up junior. You're in a public position so you're under scrutiny and the fact you are related to a former alderman will make you fair game for criticism. Be glad you have a job and pipe down. P.S. I loved the fireworks again this year even from my house. LOL
