I've got 3 in the system and I am not worried at all.
So much doom and gloom about our schools and kids.
My children are involved in their age groups and I see WAY more good teachers, administrators, and kids (of all backgrounds) than I do bad (or personally hear bad stories). And, no, I am not politically connected at all, we are just active in their activities and school work.
I don't know why some people paint such a bleak picture....I am sure you can find me a story, but I can counter with one, for example, where a teacher cared so much and knew my kid cared enough to send us a personal email (possibly overstepping her bounds, which to me...she didn't) making sure we knew about her homework (and about how much my kid cared about her homework) after she'd been sick a couple of days.
It's about how WE/YOU as parents do as parents (medical diagnoses aside) that shapes a kid's interaction with their environment (good or bad).
If your kid is going to school dressed like an asshole, then that's on you (the general you, not anyone specific) bubba.
I've no worries about my children dressing UNSAT, but I am looking forward to the interesting stories they are going to have.
