I have to say this kind of deal makes me scratch my head. I realize not many people line up to buy old properties downtown and I commend those that have done so. However, if this article is correct, not only did the city let this building go cheaply, it gave the buyer a deal AFTER the original amount bid. That does not sit well. The amount of money was small in the big picture but this is the kind of thing that gets Elliot Davis snooping around. I certainly do hope Ms. Whitaker makes something of that old eyesore but she should have paid the amount she bid. Let's see what happens.
