Oh I remember that well. Driving to and from St. Louis for work out on Route 3, and was shocked to be the only person on the road.

I couldn't even tell where the road was!

Not a gas station, not a store...no where to stop and call if you were in trouble. Cell phones were stuff from the "Jetsons". It was scary.
