Jennifer Streicher-Tilson: What does his response even mean?

"I believe it will keep the early childhood education program intact...."
That is questionable and he's not even sure himself!!
    This is a terrible idea!!!
Shame on them for not keeping the best interest of our community and at risk children ahead of a new office for our "downtown" staff. That's sad.

    Matt Jones: Ms. Meyer,
I wanted to take a moment to make sure that you got a reply from at least one Board member although any one of us will communicate with you you via phone, email, or on here.

I think that Mr. Greenwald used the words “I think” and “I believe to place emphasis on the fact that no decisions have been made and that until the 7 of us vote on something, it isn’t rock solid.

He doesn’t want to get burned for saying something is going to happen and then the Board voting differently.

Specifically in regards to the ECC program, I can tell you that I know the ECC is a fantastic program and that our community needs it and appreciates it.

So does the Administration and so does the Board.

I don’t believe there is any intention of dismantling the program or ending the program.

There may be academic benefits to combining the ECC students with kindergarten students.

There may be long-term financial benefits to this as well.

In order for us to maintain programs like the ECC, which we all want to do, we need to look long-term into ways to better structure our schools and instruction.

You don’t have to believe me…but I ask you to please spread the positive word that the Board cares about your children and will be continuing to improve the education that your child receives in the District!

Kathy Hagnauer: Well said, Matt ... you have explained this perfectly!

Katie Ronk-Meyer: Thank you for the response Mr. Jones.

I encourage any and all board members to comment, or provide their emails, I could not find such information anywhere on the GC website.

Positive communication between parents and the board is exactly what I am trying to achieve.

If you read my letter above, you will know that we, as parents, are not against any changes. We want to be involved in what options and decisions are being discussed for the future of ECC.

It sounds like everyone agrees that ECC is a great place and will not be dismantled, which is great.

You say that no decisions are being made until the 7 of you vote.

What exactly are you voting on?

What information or studies have you obtained, that makes the board ready for such a vote?

I specifically asked what steps need to be taken to open the lines of communication.

The problem is that we are asking real, legitimate questions, and only being given vague, p.c. answers.
