I don't know anything about Elroy's personal life. But I do know this...anyone who has these incredibly outdated views on pot, Marijuana, hemp, weed, cannabis (whatever you wanna call it) is very puzzling to me because a person would have to be completely indifferent to learning any information about it.
If anyone out there supports the same ideas about the plant that Elroy does, please do research on it (as I hope Elroy does). The internet is loaded with testimony by doctors, chemists, researchers, politicians and even Pat Robertson supporting it's legalization. There are vids on YouTube with testimony from people suffering from illnesses that "conventional" pharmaceuticals have done no good and in some cases more harm, that after doing research on treating with cannabis tried it as a last resort and have glowing stories of success in relieving their conditions and sometimes even cure. But, please, please don't take my word for it...find out for yourself.

And is personal testimony acceptable? I started college in 1967 (SIUE). After some of my friends started using it I thought...how sad...they'll be doing LSD soon. Then I heard something about pot curing cancer. I thought...oh, yeah...right...what a load of crap for a bunch of potheads to come out with that...just an excuse to try to legalize it order to get high...what a sick, desperate effort.
A few years later I hung around a group of really nice, educated, intelligent people. At parties they offered me pot, but I refused but I wasn't pressured. After a few years when I noticed these people were having no negative effects from it I tried it. I would then smoke it whenever we got together...maybe once every month or two.

I didn't want a "higher" experience with other drugs. In fact one guy joined us and tried to get us to try cocaine. We all politely told him to get lost. So much for leading to harder drugs. The few times I was "wasted" I didn't get in a car and drive. I wanted to nothing but find a nice comfortable place to lay down. So much for being dangerous behind the wheel...and, oh yes, when I was high and drove I was far more aware of watching out for other drivers and drove slower. I didn't crave it. So much for addictive. Years later when I realized these things I did research on line. This plant has been "demonized" by greedy people who want to control industry, politics and you. Associating it with young punks who have nothing in mind but getting high is exactly what these controllers want you to do.

If the cannabis plant were completely legal we'd have cheap or even free medicine, dirt cheap fuel, we'd be able to build houses very cheap that require very little heating and cooling and would last for hundreds of years, we'd have healthy food, we wouldn't have to destroy forests for building houses or making paper. About 60 percent of hemp is cellulose...far, far greater than the cellulose content of trees. Trees take 30 year before they can be harvested. Hemp crops can be harvest twice and even three times a year. Paper made from hemp is far superior to wood pulp. Hemp fabric can be spun much finer and make a softer fabric than cotton...and it won't mold or rot.

If there is a God, then this plant is truly a gift from him/her/it.

I haven't smoked pot or used it any form since around 1981...not because I think it's bad...but because...it's still illegal where I live and I don't want to be a lawbreaker.

But please DON'T TAKE MY WORD for what I've said...do the research.
