I don't hold my position at the road department out of monetary greed, nor am I dishonest in any way. I hold my position and take pride in assisting my husband to accomplish the task of being a true public servant. We are common people and have seen the corruptive powers of private interests dictating over the interests of public citizens. We have seen resources poured out to those with particular surnames only because of hefty contributions and/or other entitlements, all the while looking down on the disadvantaged. I've sat for years and listened to people complain about the "special interest democracy" that has been created by twisted, self-serving generational politics. We believe that the public is to be served with respect and operate everyday representing YOUR interests. My husband acted instead of sitting back apathetic. I wasn't placed in my position because of the connection I have with the Highway Commissioner, I was placed there because of my STRONG ETHICS and secondly, my qualifications and experience.
