Wow, slippery slope and straw man fallacy both present in one sentence.
I've yet to hear anyone support marriage to animals and in no way could todays ruling be construed to allow such. Also, how could a pet enter into a legal contract? One must first have the mental capacity to understand what a contract is, before entering into one. I've yet to see an animal capable of such.
There are more than 1100 laws that effect people based on marital status. From Social Security to hospital visitation rights, the list is long. Gay Americans now have the same benefits in marriage as straight ones. Gays are now one step closer to no longer being second class citizens.
