I'm not saying they aren't raising their prices, but the reasons you give are faulty, at best.

There has been no increase in the minimum wage approved by the state of Illinois. The question on the ballot was to get voters opinion of raising the minimum wage. I feel it was done solely to increase voter turnout.

    According to the NCSL website:

    There is a bill titled:
    IL S 11
    2015
    Minimum Wage Law
Status: Pending - House Rules Committee
    Date of Last Action:* 1/15/2015
Author: Lightford (D) Additional Authors: Davis M (D)
Topics: Increase Minimum Wage, Local Minimum Wages, Subminimum Wages, Tipped Wages
Summary: Amends the Minimum Wage Law, increases the minimum wage from $8.25 to $9.00 beginning July 1, 2015 and increases it by $0.50 each July 1 until July 1, 2019, at which point the minimum wage will be $11.00.

However there have also been bills:
    IL H 124 - minimum wage to $15 by 10/1/2015
    IL H 3345 - minimum wage to $9 by 7/1/2015
    IL H 3718 - minimum wage to $9.25 by 10/1/2014

None have been passed. My point is just because they are talking about it doesn't mean it will happen. Raising minimum wage to $10 will have negative effects on employers and employees alike. It will cause shops to close, reduce hours/benefits, raise prices, or just leave the state.
