No Shaggie, I'm far too old to bail because of this. Again, some of you just don't get simple economics. For you and Lisa I will make it a little less difficult.
A homeowner wants to see his kids in sports, band, clubs etc.... He knows he can't sell his house in today's market for what he paid for it but I an effort to make a better life for his kids, he sells for a great deal less than his home is actually worth. When his neighbors try to sell their home they in turn, based on his sale, will probably get less and sell for what they can.
People of a lesser income level purchase the house and the decline starts. If you don't think people of the upper middle class who can afford to move to a district with some of the perks I mentioned, you grossly underestimate that class level.
What I will tell you is that if I still had kids in school I would definitely move at the first sign of the board cutting those programs. I want my kids o have a well integrated school experience including the education as well as sports, clubs an other activities.
The lower middle class and lower middle class who can't afford to do so will be stuck. It's pretty basic stuff
