Julie, I am so happy to hear you and your mother had a good experience at Sterns. It is heart breaking to see and hear stories that did not turn out as well as yours. In my opinion, your situation is not the norm.
Once the doors are locked and visiting hours are over, if you would have made a surprise visit, you may have found employees gathered around a TV watching their favorite TV shows while residents needs were being ignored or employees actually stretched out with their mouth wide open in a sound asleep snore on beds, stretchers and recliners and chairs. It's quite a shocking sight how they had learned to tune out the cries for help and were able to continue to sleep through it all.
If you research this place on the Internet and read some of the lawsuits and health violations on file you will realize just how lucky your family was with the degree of care given to your mother.
